This 2003 version of Where the Red Fern Grows is a somewhat loyal adaptation that has very cute dogs and a great cameo by Dave Matthews by ultimately rushes important scenes so that it can overemphasize others. I love this book and the movie always brings back nostaligia of raising dogs but the violence and underlying themes are somewhat hidden to make it seem more kid friendly.Tuesday, June 16, 2009
